Print off 1 set of pictures (9). Cut each picture sheet in half on the

Print off one sheet of penny pictures per 4 players. One penny picture
per player. Cut out each penny. (link below)
Get a real penny to show as an example, or several to use in the penny
hunt instead of the penny pictures.
Teachers: Give each student one penny picture. Have them color
the pictures. Give the story pictures to students to color as well. Have
students give you back the 9 story pictures after they’re finished
coloring them.
Parents: Give each listener a penny picture and have them color
them. Have the listener color the story pictures as well, then return
the pictures to the reader.
Reading Instructions: Have all the listeners close their eyes as
you hide the penny pictures around the room. (Or you could hide real
pennies.) Have the listeners sit around you. Place the story pictures on
the table in front of you. As you read the story, hold up the picture
that goes with that part of the story. The picture number is listed on
the story sheet. When you’re done reading the story, have the
listeners go on a penny hunt. When they find one have them bring it
back. Put his initial on it and that will be his lucky penny. If
there’s only one player, have him go on a hunt for multiple pennies,
but put his initial on just one to make it his lucky penny at the end of
the hunt. Talk about how you know that it’s a penny by its size, color
and the picture on it.
