Print off 1 Ocean/Home game card sheet per player (link below)
Print off 1 Barn/Jungle game card sheet per player (link below)
Print off dice and make the dice.
Teachers: Have children get into small groups of 4 – 6. Place a
game board in the center of the group. Give each child his own sheet of
Ocean/Home and Barn/Jungle game cards. Have each child color the game
cards. Cut the game cards. Have each child separate his game cards into
4 stacks by where the animals live, ocean, home, jungle or barn. Give
one of the children the dice and he’s to start the game. Encourage
conversation about where each animal lives and you can also have
children name the animals as they place their animal card on the board.
Parents: Place the game board in the center of the players. Give
each child one Ocean/Home card sheet and one Barn/Jungle card sheet.
Have the child color the pictures on the sheet. You can also have the
child color the game board. Cut the cards and have the child separate
them into 4 piles by where the animals live, ocean, home, jungle or
barn. Give the child the dice and now you can begin the game.
Play Instructions: Have the youngest child roll the dice first.
If it lands on home, then the child chooses an animal card from the home
stack and places on the game board in the home section. The next player
rolls and does the same. If the dice lands on Free Environment then the
player can place any animal card on it’s home environment space. If
the dice lands on Animal Sounds then the player has to choose one card
from his animal card pile and make that animal sound out loud. At that
time the player doesn’t get to place a card on the board. He will need
to wait for his next turn. Continue taking turns rolling the dice and
placing animal cards on the board. If you are out of one type of animal
card and you roll that environment then you pass on that turn and wait
until your next turn to try again.
How to win: The first player to have all of his animal cards on
the board is the winner.
