Print off 1 copy of the Crown Page, includes 4 crowns, per treasure
hunt. (Link below)
Print off 2 copies of the Please and Thank You cards per 4 players. Only
use these cards when playing the card game. (Link below)
Teachers: Give each student half a page of shape cards and have
them color the cards. Cut out the shape cards. Students who
get finished coloring first can also color the crown sheets. Make
the 4 shape crowns per instructions below.
Create Shape Crowns: Cut on the jagged dotted line to create
the top of the crown. Cut on the straight dotted line to create
the back of the crown. Discard the middle section. Tape one
side of the long paper strip to the side of the crown front. Place
the crown front on a child's forehead. Wrap the back of the crown
around the child's head and tape the other side to the front of the
crown. The crown should now be complete. See diagram below.
Parents: Same as above.
Play Instructions: (Treasure Hunt) Hide all shape cards.
Have players hunt for cards until they are all found. When
all cards are found have all players sit around a table or on the floor.
Have each player stack his cards in piles by type of shape. All
hearts in one pile, all crescents in another and so on... Have
each child count all his cards in the heart pile. Whichever child
has the most hearts gets crowned as the Ruler of Heart Land. Then
move to the next shape pile. Give each crown out to the child with
the most of those shape cards.
(Card Game) Cut out all Please and Thank You cards. Take all
shape cards and shuffle with the please and thank you cards.
Distribute the cards evenly among all players.
When you say "Go", all players are to turn over the top card
from their card stack. If they turn over a shape card that says, Please
and Thank you, Take all Crescents, then that player is to ask each
player that has turned over a crescent card to give him their cards. He
must say, "Please may I have your crescent cards." Then
when the player receives each card, he is to say, "Thank You."
If more than one player flips over the same please and Thank You card at
the same time for the same shape, neither player gets the cards.
When players receive cards they are to place them in a separate pile,
not back in their hand. If no one flips over a Please and Thank
You card then all cards are placed in a discard pile and the game
continues.
How to win: When all cards have been flipped, the winner
is the player who has collected the most cards.
